STUD CATTLE
NEW ZEALAND’S DISADVANTAGE. QUARANTINE RESTRICTIONS. (Per United Press Association.) Danncvirkc, May 5. Mr Donald Grant, of Mangatoro, who judged the Aberdeen Angus cattle at the Sydney Royal Show, in an interview said he was impressed during his visit by the handicap New Zealand was labouring under owing to the prohibition of stud cattle. The show convinced him that Australia was making considerable headway through the importation of high-grade stud bulls from Scotland. Australia used to import from New Zealand, but as a result of the quarantine restriction the Commonwealth was leaving the Dominion behind. The only way to get fresh strains of stud cattle into the Dominion was through Australia, but owing to the quarantine restrictions there and here it took almost a year to get delivery of any cattle.
