GAMING CHARGE
BARMAN REMANDED. POSSESSION OF PISTOL. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, May 5. On charges of using the bar of the Clarendon Hotel as a common gaming house, and carrying on business as a bookmaker, Michael John O’Halloran, a barman, was furthet remanded. When the police executed a warrant issued under the terms of the Gaming Act they found an automatic pistol in O’Halloran’s possession. He pleaded guilty to being unlawfully in possession of this, and was fined £4 and the pistol was confiscated. On the gaming charge O’Halloran elected to undergo trial by a jury.
