NOVITIATE OPENED
CEREMONY AT CLAREMONT. (Per United Press Association.) Tiniant, April 23. Several thousand people attended the opening of the Catholic Novitiate at Claremont, 10 miles from Timaru, this afternoon. This is the first Novitiate to be established in New Zealand, and is to be known as St. Joseph’s. The ceremony was performed by Archbishop Redwood, assisted by Bishops Liston (Auckland), Brodie (Christchurch) and Brother Benignus, New Zealand Provincial of the Marist Brothers, who is director of Sacred Heart College, Auckland.
