TUATAPERE PIPE BAND
VISIT TO QUEENSTOWN. On Easter Saturday some 16 members of the Tuatapere Pipe Band, in charge of Mr J. A. Young, travelled to Queenstown to take part in the Easter festivities. The band, under the leadership of Mr A. Dickson and Pipe-Major B. Grey played popular selections in the town and gardens on Saturday afternoon and attended a church parade on Sunday morning. In the afternoon they played at the gardens where an appreciative audience had assembled. Many complimentary remarks were passed on the appearance and performance of the band generally. After playing through the town on Monday morning, the band commenced the return journey on the Earnslaw, playing selections throughout. One of the chief attractions on the return trip was a small goat destined to become their mascot. The bandsmen and official party were enthusiastic about the hospitality accorded them in Queenstown.
