POWER BOARD CHARGES
REDUCTION DESIRED.
(Per United Press Association.)
Wellington, April 20.
The Dominion Executive of the Farmers’ Union decided to support the action of certain electric power boards in endeavouring to secure a reduction in the cost of bulk power as supplied to local power boards. A delegate contended that the time had arrived for a revision of the whole system of power board charges. Mr W. J. Polson, M.P., said that the department was not making a profit. A price reduction would only fall back on the Consolidated Fund.
Mr Mulholland said the main problem involved the question of the redistribution of charges. Considerable relief could be given without throwing the burden upon the cities.
