HEALTH STAMPS

FIGURES FOR THE DOMINION. In connection with the sale of health postage stamps now on sale at all post offices it may be explained that these stamps, which cost 2d each, are used as ordinary penny postage stamps. The other penny goes into a fund which is distributed to the different organizations throughout New Zealand engaged in running children’s health camps. In places where no health camp organization exists, but where the district has shown an active interest in developing the stamp sales, the share of such district is held for the benefit of its children and handed over whenever satisfactory arrangements can be made. Health camps are by no means experimental. The results are striking and show what can be done by a simple routine permitting plentiful sunlight and fresh air, good food, and a cheerful round of rest, work and play. The purchase of a few health postage stamps at this Christmas season of the year enables everyone to contribute to this humanitarian work. In connection with the sale of the health postage stamps the following are the results for the week ended December 17, with the total figures for this year’s campaign to date in parentheses:— Auckland 6,341 (22,140) Blenheim 376 (861) Christchurch 3,723 (5,680) Dunedin 1,670 (6,578) Gisborne 353 (1,475) Greymouth 493 (1,418) Hamilton 1,728 (6,919) Invercargill 1,046 (11,356) Napier 744 (4,185) Nelson 258 (1,349) New Plymouth 681 (3,733) Oamaru 565 (1,708) Palmerston N. 1,439 (4,800) Thames 591 (1,713) Timaru 535 (3,126) Wanganui 852 (3,751) Wellington 10,498 (36,336) Westport 42 (322) Totals 31,935 (128,450)
