It transpires that Mr Justice Roos took the plunge without consulting General Smuts, consequently a coalition is impracticable at present. General Smuts is on a shooting trip, and all his supporters pledge themselves not to allow him to be sideGeneral Hertzog advised his supporters that the session would last three weeks, which has been accepted as an anticipation of defeat.
