A gloom was cast over the whole district last Tuesday when it was learned that Mr Eric McDonald, who met with a serious accident as. the result of a collison with a motor car on the previous Friday had succumbed to his injuries. Deceased was a member of a well known and respected local family, being the eldest son of the late Mr and Mrs W. McDonald, both of whom passed away during the last two years. Following his profession of motor mechanic deceased was employed for a time by Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Gore, and later by Mr T. McDonald, of Waikaka, whence he was returning when he received his fatal injuries. The funeral, which took place last Thursday, was a very large one testifying to the great popularity of deceased.
