FORTROSE NOTES

GIFT EVENING. (From Our Correspondent.) A large gathering of the residents of the district assembled in Humphrey’s Hall on Thursday evening last in honour of a gift evening to Miss “Kitty” Slee who is to be married on Monday, the 19th inst. Mr J. S. Sinclair, on behalf of the residents, presented the gifts and Mr T. Golden, in a neat speech, spoke in glowing terms of the capabilities and high qualities of the prospective bride and bridegroom. Mr R. Hurle suitably replied. The evening was spent in song, games and dancing. Flag 500. There was a good attendance in the social hall on Friday evening last, the occasion being a card party held by the local Anglican Church Committee. The winners of prizes were Mrs W. Chisholm, Messrs K. Golden and G. McEwan.
