CLIFDEN NOTES

ANNUAL SCHOOL CLOSING. (From Our Correspondent.) At the local school on Friday afternoon a good attendance of parents and residents attended the annual break-up ceremony. Mr J. C. Gardner, chairman of the School Committee, presided. The first part of the afternoon took the form of a small concert, at which the following items were contributed: Opening chorus by the pupils, “Here We Are Again,” in variations; recitation, by Eileen O’Brien; item by the primers, Dorothy Harris, Raymond O’Brien, Desmond O’Brien, Ivan Bate?, Everard Hill; song, pupils; recitation, Isla Miln; item by Heather Findlay and Elizabeth Rowley; recitation, Raymond Lawrence; song, pupils; recitation, May McLean; song, pupils. Before the distribution of the prizes Mr C. Gardner emphasized the success of the pupils and gave encouragement to strive to do as well again in the coming year. Mr J. R. Gardiner suitably replied.
