SINGLE PARLIAMENT

PRAIRIE PROVINCES’ AIM. PREMIERS IN CONFERENCE. (United Press Assn. —Telegraph Copyright.) Winnipeg, December 19. The West is talking again to-day of a single Government for the prairies. The revival of the plan to unite Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta under one Parliament came with a statement from the Premier of Manitoba, Mr Bracken, at the close of a three-day prairie Premiers’ parley. These meetings are held periodically. “We are endeavouring in the absence of one single Government for the prairies to accomplish by a conference some of the advantages that might be expected from a union of all,” said Mr Bracken, who thirteen months ago came out definitely in favour of a single prairie Parliament. Already the prairies have gone a long way toward uniform police protection with the assumption of police duties by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in the three provinces. There have been discussions at various times of uniting the universities, the health and hospital units, the public works and various provincial services.
