BILLS INTRODUCED. (From Our Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, November 2. Private members’ Bills having come up for consideration in the House of Representatives to-day, a number were dealt with and in addition a number of other Bills were added to the Order Paper, four being introduced and read a first time. These were the Electoral Amendment Bill (the Hon. G. W. Forbes), Napier Harbour Board Empowering Bill (Mr W. E. Barnard), Rent Restriction Bill (the Hon. A. Hamilton), Shops and Offices Amendment Bill (Mr P. Fraser). The Wellington City Empowering and Amendment Bill (Mr R. Semple) was returned to the House with amendments by the Local Bills Committee and the Carterton Borough Council and Wairarapa South Countv Council Empowering Bill (Mr A. D. McLeod) was also returned with a recommendation that it be allowed to proceed. The Orders in Council Confirmation Bill (the Rev. C. J. Carr) which proposes that all Orders in Council must be later ratified by Parliament was read a second time pro forma and was referred to the Statutes Revision Committee. The British Nationality and Status of Aliens (in New Zealand) Amendment Bill (Mr P. Fraser) was also accorded its second reading and was then referred to the same committee. The Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Amendment Bill (Mr H. G. R. Mason) was read a second time pro forma, but a motion to refer it to the Statutes Revision Committee was rejected after a division bad been taken. The Marriage Amendment Bill was thrown out. The New Zealand Institute of Clerks of Works Bill (Mr P. Fraser) was read a second time pro forma and was referred to the Labour Bills Committee. The Gaming Amendment Bill (Mr H. T. Armstrong) was allowed its second reading pro forma and was referred to the Statutes Revision Committee. The Currency Bill (Mr H. G. R. Mason) was then discussed until the House rose at 5.30.
