£20,000 CLAIM
“WIZARD” SMITH LIBEL ACTION. EVIDENCE OF PLAINTIFF. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 10.5 p.m.) Sydney, November 1. The action for libel in which “Wizard” Smith is claiming £20,000 damages from Smith’s Weekly newspaper was continued to-day. Smith denied that prior to the trials he was so nervous that he could not hold a teacup. Evidence given by several New Zealand witnesses that the beach was in good condition was denied by Smith, who also denied that money was collected on the beach or at any other place in New Zealand.
