ROBBERY UNDER ARMS
BANK MESSENGERS ATTACKED. THIEVES CHEATED OF BOOTY. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Berlin, October 31. Armed robbers in a motor attacked two bank messengers who were carrying a box containing £2500 from the branch of the Reichsbank at Erfurt. They shot one dead and wounded the other. While they were loading the box on to their car a policeman came out of a neighbouring station. The robbers thereupon dropped the box and fled. The constable fired at the car, and it is believed that one robber was wounded in the encounter which took place in the daytime in a busy street.
