LUMSDEN NOTES
ANGLING. (From Our Correspondent.) During the week-end an angling competition was held among the local anglers, trophies having been donated by Teachers Company. Good bags were secured although weather conditions were not very favourable, it being inclined to thunder. The results of the competition were as follows: Heaviest bag: First T. Soper 25 fish weighing 251bs. Second, S. Johnson 17 fish weighing 18|lb including a fish weighing 31b the heaviest fish for the day. Third, M. S. Reidy 16 fish weighing 141 b. Other anglers who weighed in were: R. Charleson 21 fish 141bs; J. Pont 30 fish lOjlbs; F. Belesky 14 fish 10 Jib; G. Johnson 7 fish 61bs. After the weigh-in Mr F. Belesky, president, stated that the manner in which the members entered the competition showed their appreciation towards the donors and hoped that more would enter for the local competitions which would be held throughout the season. School Concert On Friday evening a most enjoyable concert was staged by the pupils of the Lumsden School. The programme was full of variety, the drill and dancing of the senior girls being quite novel. Mr James Campbell, on behalf of the committee, thanked those present for their attendance, stating that the funds from the concert were to be used to pay the fares of the children to the annual picnic to be held at Bluff. Mr Campbell also thanked Mr Owen and his assistants who had taken so much trouble in training the pupils and stated that £ll had been taken at the door, but that £lB would be necessary to meet the fares. A dance was held at the conclusion of the concert bringing the takings up to £l3.
