DRANK WELL
GUESTS AT ACTRESS’S PARTIES. London, October 16. “A first night party usually cost £4O because the guests always drank a lot,” said Diana Wilson, the well-known actress, under examination in bankruptcy. Her liabilities are £2686 and her assets £56. She said that she earned £5O a week in Australia, but did not save because she thought it would always continue. Miss Wilson attributed her failure to lack of regular engagements since 1926. She had been entertaining beyond her means in the last three years, in which time she had spent £625 on entertaining. Sometimes she entertained twice a week and sometimes once a month. Diana Wilson gained most of her stage experience in Australia as a member of Lawrence Grossmith’s and Oscar Asche’s companies. She was leading lady to these stars, playing in “The Silver Fox,” “Captain Applejack’s Adventure,” and “Quarantine” with Grossmith. In the latter she distinguished herself as the first person to appear on the stage with a flesh pink foundation to a black lace evening frock, and a gasp went up from the audience on her entrance.
