“PULL” OF POLITICS
EXTENSION TO SENATE COMPLAINED OF. (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, November 1. Complaining that politics had too much “pull” in the Senate of the University of New Zealand, Mr A. E. Flower, speaking at a meeting of the Canterbury College Board of Governors yesterday, said that it was a great pity that this state of affairs should exist. Mr Flower’s statement followed his defeat for a position on the senate, where he has represented the board for some years. He contended that politics had obtruded themselves into the senate. Mr E. J. Howard, M.P.: I think I should have something to say about this. The Chairman (Mr C. T. Aschman): I do not want to stop you, but I think you would be wise not to. There was no further discussion.
