CANON OF 83 ON ROOF
CLIMB OF 130 FEET. Canon G. W. Jeudwine, sub-dean of Lincoln Cathedral, who is 83 years of age, and Dean Mitchell recently climbed to the south-west transept gable summit, 130 ft. from the ground, and placed in position the final stone marking the completion of special repairs _ to the cathedral which have occupied ten years and cost £189,000. A short service was held on the scaffolding, others present including clergy, the clerk of the works and the masons. The dean gave a brief address, and the Doxology was sung. The completion of the repairs will be celebrated with a thanksgiving service on November 3, attended by the Duke and Duchess of York.
