DEATH IN BOX
SIGNALMAN’S COLLAPSE. Just after the last of 50 crowded English excursion trains had passed the Devonshire Road signal-box, outside the Blackpool North Station, a few weeks ago, the signalman, Thomas Henry Nash, aged 46, of Blackpool, collapsed and died. It was the signalman’s duty to communicate with the station at 12.28 a.m., but as no communication was received, a messenger was sent to. the signalbox, and he was found lying dead beside the telephone. It is believed that Mr Nash was suddenly taken ill and made an attempt to get to the telephone to warn the station, but collapsed before he could do so.
