FLIGHT OVER EVEREST
LORD CLYDESDALE CHIEF PILOT.
(British Official Wireless.)
(Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, October 6. Lord Clydesdale, who is to be chief pilot of the Mt Everest expedition, was granted leave of absence by his Parliamentary constituents in East Renfrew last night to enable him to undertake the flight. The project, which has the support of the Air Ministry and India Office, is hazardous and reliance must be placed entirely upon the engine for about 50 miles of the flight over Everest, which, says Lord Clydesdale, alone stands out as the only significant part of the world which has not been flown over.
