ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES
MOTOR CYCLIST KILLED. (Per United Press Association.) Timaru, September 26. A fatal accident occurred at Hilton this morning, when A. Heenan, aged 21, of Rathmore street, Timaru, while riding a motor cycle, collided with a lorry belonging to the Caroline Bay Dairy Company at a bend in the road. Heenan suffered fatal injuries, dying almost immediately. UNIDENTIFIED BODY. Foxton, September 26. A mystery surrounds the discovery of the body of a middle-aged mediumbuilt man found in the Manawatu river on Sunday. No one is reported missing locally and although the body, is extensively tattooed and has been inspected by a number of people, the identity is not yet established. Nothing on the clothing indicated the identity of the body, which had been in the river for a considerable time. An inquest was opened and adjourned. INJURED FLYERS PROGRESSING. Wellington, September 26. According to a report received from the hospital authorities this afternoon there is a decided general improvement in the condition of Mr L. F. P. Taylor, who was severely burned in the aeroplane crash at Johnsonville on Thursday morning. An improvement is also shown in the condition of Mr A. De Tourettes, Taylor’s companion in the machine.
