TRADE OF PORT. RETURNS FOR JUNE. At the monthly meeting of the Bluff Harbour Board held yesterday the secretary (Mr H. C. Gimblett) presented a report covering the finances of the board and the trade of the port for the month of June. Finance. Under the heading of finance the report stated:— The total receipts from all sources tor the month were £2979 19/7 as against £3lBl 14/5 for the month of June 1931 showing a decrease of £2Ol 14/10. The receipts for the month of June for the current year and the proceeding year were:—

The net returns from ordinary sources after eliminating extraordinary revenue is:—l93l-1932, £29,532 5/10; 1930-1931, £29,966 1/6; 1929-1930, £33,545 13/3. The amounts owing to the board at the end of June were: Wharfage dues, £1216 1/9; ships charges £6lB 1/3; miscellaneous £207 11/7; endowment rentals £1528 6/8; total £3570 1/3. The payments for the month were £6833 15/7, including the item new tug Awarua, transfer account fourth payment, including exchange etc. £4796. The total payments now made on the new tug from revenue are £33,785, including exchange on transfer to London and agents and architect’s fees. The next payment of 15 per cent of contract price will be due in November when delivery of the vessel is taken by the board at Bluff. For the period under review, viz. to the end of June, the expenditure has exceeded receipts by £28,416 6/5. The position of the board’s accounts with the Bank of New Zealand and the National Bank, London, on June 30 was: Invercargill account (debit), £12,423. 2/8; National Bank, London (credit), £3100; net debit, £9323 2/8. Imports and Exports. The tonnage of cargo which has passed over the wharves for the month shows a decrease of 1208 tons as against the tonnage for the corresponding month of last year. The exports were: Butter, 72 tons; cheese, 791 tons; frozen meat, 3254 tons; milk products 102 tons; oats and oat products, 507 tons; potatoes, 217 tons; rabbits (frozen) 171 tons; seeds, ,125 tons; tallow, 251 tons; timber 285 tons; wool, 79 tons; sundries, 624 tons; total 6478 tons. For the nine months period ending June in the last three years, the tonnage of goods passing over the wharves has been:—

Harbourmaster’s Report i The harbourmaster supplied the following summary of the shipping entering and departing from the port during June:— , mom Inward. —4 overseas vessels, 23,318 tons; 5 intercolonial vessels, 7569 tons; 35 coastal vessels, 5813 tons; total 44 vessels, 36,700 tons. Outward.—4 overseas vessels, 23,318 tons; 5 intercolonial vessels, 7569 tons; 33 coastal vessels 5746 tons; total 42 vessels, 36,633 tons. Compared with the corresponding month of last year there is a decrease inward of 13,129 tons and a decrease outward of 8325 tons.
