HOCKEY SUCCESS
NEW ZEALAND TEAM WARWICK DEFEATED BY 13 TO 1 BRILLIANT DISPLAY (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Warwick (Queensland), July 28. Taking complete control of the game in the first few minutes, the New Zealand hockey tourists overwhelmed a Warwich eleven this afternoon, running up goals with monotonous regularity and eventually winning by 13 to 1. . Though the match was one-sided the feature of it was a brilliant exhibition of the game on the part of the visitors, whose tour of Queensland has so far resulted in easy victories. Their combination was wonderful, especially the forwards, who completely nonplussed the local players by their speed, attack and tactics. The moves of Anthony, Bay and Rodgers invariably ended in goals. The backs, too, combined with uncanny accuracy, the outstanding being Parker, who played hockey of type seldom seen in Queensland. Bollard and Munro were also conspicuous. The visitors scored within five minutes of the opening, and with the exception of two occasions were on attack for the greater part of the first half, during which seven goals were netted.
In the second half the New Zealanders again took control of affairs and early added an additional three goals in quick succession. Then Warwick for hte first time seemed to have the upper hand, but their advantage was short-lived. The visitors dominated play for the remainder of the game, winning by 13 goals to 1. Goals were scored by Anthony (6), Rodgers (5), Bay and Best. For Warwick Stewart scored. The teams were as follows:— New Zealand: Moore, Ewan, Parker, Bollard, Joblin, Munro, Anthony, Bay, Best, Rodgers, Reid. Warwick: Dunbar, Ward, Johnson, Anstey, Jensen, Williams (replaced by Pollock), Furness, Garland, Carpenter, Hall, Stewart.
