BRITISH BY-ELECTION. (Per United Press Association.) London, July 27. The Wednesday by-election, owing to Viscount Ednam’s elevation to the peerage, resulted: — Mr J. Banfield (Labour) 21,977 Mr R. Davies (Conservative) 18,986 The previous election resulted: Viscount Ednam (Con.), 25,000; A Short (Lab.), 20,842.
