RUGBY UNION CHARGES.
To the Editor.
Sir, —Much has been written lately by several writers through your columns in reference to the S.R.F. Union’s gate charges to the rep. matches played and to be played here this season. With your permission I would like to refer to “Long Tom’s”, letter in this morning’s paper. I am myself against high prices, but must bear in mind the short Rugby season we have, .and the expense involved in entertaining touring teams, also the expense involved in sending a touring team away every second year. After seeing to-day’s match, I don't think anyone could grudge the gate price, and after all the park was not as bad as “Long Tom” would have us believe. I am sure he would be of the same opinion as myself, and I only hope he changed his mind and, like all true Rugbyites, viewed to-day’s match. In conclusion, I would like to say that it is a great pity that the union when it considered the ground lay-out, did not have the playing area running north and south instead as at present, as to-day’s game proved.—l am, etc. “HARD UP.” July 27, 1932.
