TRIAL OF GORGULOFF
SECOND SHOT FIRED AT DOUMER. FORMER COSSACK’S ALLEGATIONS. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Paris, July 26. M. Peitri, ex-Minister of Defence, describing Gorguloff’s assassination of M. Doumer disclosed that Gorguloff fired a second shot, while being held, a long time after the first. Lazaroff, an ex-Cossack, said Gorguloff represented the Chief of the Cheka and that he tortured 19 persons, including witness. He described how his hands were tied behind his back, red-hot needles placed in his fingers, and matches stuck under the fingernails and set alight. At this stage Gorguloff sprang up and denounced Lazaroff as a liar. Three doctors declared that they did not believe Gorguloff was insane. He denied that they had examined him except in the manner of gendarmes., A fourth doctor expressed the opinion that Gorguloff was mentally unstable.
