IVANHOE AND ALLANDALE STUDS. SUCCESSFUL REDUCTION SALE. Keen interest was shown by Ayrshire breeders throughout Southland and in northern provinces yesterday when a reduction sale of pedigree cattle from the Ivanhoe stud of Mr A. M. Weir and the Allandale stud of Mr R. S. Weir was held at Menzies Ferry. There was a large attendance and 64 lots, comprising mostly young stock, were offered and prices, considering the times, were good. Particular interest attached to the sale as the first of the stock sired by Mr A. M. Weir’s two young imported Canadian bulls, Harnebel Calamity Pride and Glen Elm Nellie Osborne’s Hero, were exhibited and offered for sale. There was keen competition for the young bulls by these sires and the highest price of the sale was obtained for Ivanhoe Phar Lap, a yearling son of Harnabel Calamity Pride, which was purchased by Mr T. S. Muirhead, Waimatuku, for 35 guineas. Several other progeny of the imported stock realized 30 guineas. Bulls were in keen demand and sold at excellent prices, but for female stock the sale was not so brisk and prices for heifers and cows were considerably lower. Mr C. E. Robertson, manager of the stud stock department of Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., conducted the sale. Details of the lots offered and the sales are as follows:— IVANHOE STOCK. On account of Mr A.
