REV. LIONEL B. FLETCHER

VISIT TO GORE. The Rev. Lionel B. Fletcher, the noted Australian and New Zealand evangelist, is due at Gore on June 1, 2 and 3. Four meetings are to be held, all in the Princess Theatre. A meeting each night at 7.30 p.m. and one on the afternoon of the King’s Birthday at 2.30 p.m. The Rev. Lionel B. Fletcher has now a world-wide reputation as an evangelist and is classed by some as the foremost evangelist in the Englishspeaking world. Last year the Rev. Lionel B. Fletcher was called from his pulpit at Auckland to assist in a great campaign in London designed to win back the youth of London to the churches. The result of that mission is now history and the part that the Rev. Lionel B. Fletcher played in the campaign was great. On several occasions in the Albert Hall, London, he spoke to congregations upwards of 10 and 12 thousands. Mr Fletcher has now received a call to the position of evangelist working throughout the British Empire, under the direction of the World’s Evangelization Trust. This trust has acquired the Medway Conference buildings, London, at a cost of £250,000 and Mr Fletcher leaves for his new sphere of work almost immediately. Just now the Rev. L. B. Fletcher is on his last evangelistic tour of New Zealand. Gore is practically his last campaign. He is not going any further south, but returns to Dunedin for a campaign and thence to London. The following churches are taking part in the campaign: St. Andrew’s Presbyterian (Rev. F. M. Beattie), Congregational Church (Rev. Raymond Simpson), Methodist Church (Rev. H. Orchard), Baptist Church (Rev. C. D. Gardiner), Waikaka Presbyterian Church (Rev. Mr Gow), Waikaka Valley Presbyterian Church (Rev. D. D. McLachlan), Knapdale Presbyterian Church (Rev. Mr Armstrong), also the Church of Christ.
