BOUND FOR CANADA
AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS. ARRIVAL AT AUCKLAND, (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, May 30. The Australian cricket team bound for Canada arrived by the Niagara toA. A. Mailey, who is in charge said the object of the tour was not only to stimulate interest in the game in the United States and Canada, but to promote better feeling between Australia and those countries. Most of the matches would be played in Canada. The tour would open with a game at Victoria (8.C.) on June 18. Two matches would be played at Toronto including a Test against Eastern Canada. Possibly the itinerary would be altered to allow the team to visit Ottawa at the time of the conference. Besides D. Bradman, V. Richardson, A. Kippax and S. McCabe, the players include H. Carter, the wicketkeeper, who is accompanied by his son and Dr Pope, who toured New Zealand with A. H. H. Gilligan’s team.
