TELEPHONE DEVICE
REMOVAL OF DISTORTION. LONG DISTANCE CALLS. • (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) London, May 27. The Post Office has devised an undistorted telephone, making long distance speech as audible as local calls. The device, which is known as zero speech, completely removes distortion from the voice. It will be applied to all trunk lines. Two factors led to its success. Firstly, amplifying the current every 40 or 50 miles by a repeater; and, secondly, a new device is attached to every repeater. It will also improve delayed wireless broadcasts.
