RUGBY FOOTBALL

INJURED PLAYERS. RISK OF RESUMING PLAY. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, March 23. It has happened not infrequently in Rugby football matches that a player, after having met with a head injury causing him to be incapable of playing for a little time, has returned to the field of play. This matter came up in the course of the proceedings of the British Medical Association conference at Auckland and that association has written to the New Zealand Rugby Union pointing out that such players run a serious risk and suggesting that the union should take up the matter with the Referees’ Association, in order that the referee should have power to prevent a player so injured from taking any further part in the game. It was decided to circularize all unions and Referees’ Associations requesting them to act in accordance with this advice.
