Messrs R. L. Byars, S. Rice and IT. Smith have been appointed the Southland Education Board’s representatives .on the Gore High School Board. Messrs P. A. de la Pcrrelle, M.P., and F. G. Stevenson have been appointed as representatives of the Southland Education Board on the Board of Governors of the Southland High Schools. A Palmerston North message states: General and 'Mrs Higgins arrived from Auckland at seven o’clock yesterday morning and were accorded a rousing reception. The Salvationists as they stepped off tho train were met by the Mayor and Mayoress and district officers of the Army. At noon the Rotary and Luncheon Clubs and the Chamber of Commerce gave a luncheon in their honour. In the afternoon a civic reception was held and was followed by a big gathering of Salvationists in the evening. Representatives of the Army in outlying towns in the Central North Division have congregated here and' massed bands are contributing to one of the most notable gatherings in the Salvationists’ history of this city.
