Banish Your Wrinkles

LAUGH AND GROW YOUNG. Face wrinkles are the outward sign of mental wrinkles. Rigidity of outlook, narrowness, pettiness, self-indulgence always express themselves in wrinkles, as, of course, do fear and worry. One of the big things one has to learn if one wishes to remove wrinkles is how to smile. Be cheerful and smile at everyone. You cannot be angry and smile at the same time, so have a smile for everyone yon meet and, most important of all, have one for yourself! yourself. Breathe deeply out in the open, feeling that you are drawing all the peace and serenity of nature into your body, and when you breathe out feel that all your worries, fetus and irritation are leaving you.

Last thing at night strip yourself and give yourself a thorough airing. Then rub yourself down vigorously with a dry rough towel. When you get iato bed relax. If you have difficulty in relaxing properly, in taking all the tension out of the muscles and allowmg the full weight of the body to rest on the bed, without the feeling that you are still holding yourself together with your muscles —if you can’t get this feeling then here is a good way of inducing it. Lie flat on your back, your arms at your sides, then start to make the body as tense as you can. Begin at the toes, making them rigid, come up, the legs tensing up every muscle right up to the back of the neck, tense your eyes till every bit of you is stiff and rigid, then suddenly let go! You just cannot help being relaxed after that. You can repeat this two or three tines if necessary, but generally once is quite enough.

In the morning on waking smile to yourself, even if you don’t feel like it, just smile. Then screw up your eyes as tight as you can, using all the facial muscles. Relax and open and blink definitely at something four or five times. Now you are ready to throw off the bedclothes and stretch every muscle in your body. Raise your arms above ycur head and stretch to your fullest length without bending any limbs. Do the same with the arms spread sideways. Then raise your legs over your head, first separately, then together. When you have your morning wash make a point of closing your eyez aid splashing the closed eyes with ccld water till they tingle. Follow tiis Sy gently slapping the muscles of tie face till you feel the blood has rusaed to the surface and vigorous circulation has been established. Lastly, before you dress, run your fingers through your scalp, giving it a

gentle massage. Do not rub the skin, but move the skin separately from the bone underneath. This will do far more toward stimulating the circulation than merely rubbing. Never ask for sympathy and never pity yourself. If you feel depressed and down, take a hot bath and go to bed and sleep as long as jwssible. You are the only person who can alter your appearance and you must do it joyously, so do it with a smile and plenty of enthusiasm and you will soon find new young life pulsing not only in your face, but all through your body.
