THE BEST METHOD
SELLING IN NEW ZEALAND. “I have consulted advertising authorities in many parts of the world,” said Mr Frank Goldberg, of Sydney, in a recent interview, “and I find that, almost without exception, their view is that advertising in daily newspapers is the quickest, best and surest method of getting results. There are two excellent illustrations in the London Daily Mail and the Saturday Evening Post. In the Mail the cost of a full-page advertisement for one issue is over £l6OO, and in the Post about £1650, but the advertisements reach over two million people in each case, and the space is eagerly sought after by those who appreciate its value. I have had 20 years’ experience in the advertising line, and those years have proved my contention beyond all doubt. “When big concerns in England and the United States start an advertising campaign, the bulk of the money spent goes into newspaper advertising and the magazines. They are always number one. The other mediums take a much smaller percentage of the money laid out. In New Zealand especially, the population is too distributed to be generally reached by any other means than the dtyly Press. Big sums are being paid to other mediums, .but its value in returns is not to be compared with the value returned by a newspaper advertisement.”
