WORLD’S PRODUCTION

UNSCIENTIFIC DISTRIBUTION. ARBITRATION JUDGE'S REASONING. (United Preus Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Melbourne, March 10. Replying to argument by a representative of 37 unions seeking a resolution on the 10 per cent, wage cut, Mr Justice Detheridge, Chief Judge of the Arbitration Court, said that a reduction of the standard of wages in Australia had not been brought about by the Court, but. by a fall of national wealth. The Court could not reform the whole world, which constituted warring economic elements, each producing what it. was lifted to produce and also striving to produce what it was unfitted for. The attitude of nations in regard to tariffs had resulted in a grossly unscientific method of distribution of the world’s production. Thus the world was at fault.
