(United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) Sydney, January 19. The original estimated cost of the Sydney Harbour bridge, inclusive of land resumptions, was £5,750,000. According to the report of the Auditor-General submitted to the Governor-General, the expenditure to June 30 last was £8,136,946. FIRST TRAIN CROSSES A NOTEWORTHY OCCASION. (Rec. 11.15 p.m.) Sydney, January 19. The first train to cross the Sydney Harbour bridge 180 ft above the water to-day was heralded by a salvo of ferry sirens cockadoodledooing, which attracted the attention of thousands of people on both sides of the harbour. A locomotive drawing two carriages with the official party aboard steamed slowly over the great structure looking not much larger than a child's toy amid the maze of towering steel. The occasion was a noteworthy one in the history of the Harbour Bridge and in the careers of the train crew.
