POLICE IN SMASH
ACCIDENT AT INTERSECTION. (United Press Assn. —By Telegraph—Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Melbourne, January 17. While a police patrol was chasing a stolen car at Clifton Hill last night its motor crashed into a truck at an intersection and overturned. Ernest Thurgood, driver of the truck, was killed and his companion and five policemen were taken to hospital. The stolen car escaped.
