JAPAN’S ASSURANCES
OPEN DOOR IN MANCHURIA. (British Official Wireless.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, January 15. As a result of a conversation between the Foreign Secretary, Sir John Simon, and the Japanese Ambassador on January 8 in regard to the situation in Manchuria, the Japanese Ambassador called at the Foreign Office yesterday and conveyed from his Government express assurances in reference to Japan’s disclaimer of territorial ambitions in Manchuria and of her intention to respect the principles of the open door and Nine-Power Treaty.
