HELD FOR RANSOM

WIFE OF MILLIONAIRE DEMAND FOR 75,000 DOLLARS HUSBAND WILLING TO PAY (United Frees Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) New York, December 17. It is reported from Kansas City that Mrs Nell Connelly, wife of a millionaire garment manufacturer, was kidnapped yesterday. She sent a note to her husband stating that she would be blinded and her chauffeur, who was taken with her, would be murdered unless their abductors were paid a ransom of 75,000 dollars. The woman’s husband asserted that he did not want, police interference. He was ready and willing to pay the money. Mr Connelly’s attorney, Mr Reed, who was formerly a Senator of Missouri, in a public statement guaranteed payment, and stated that if a single hair on Mrs Connelly’s head was harmed he would spend the rest of his life in running down the kidnappers and sending them to the gallows.
