FEDERAL ELECTION

LABOUR LOSSES PREDICTED. PRIME MINISTER HOPEFUL. (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) (Rec. 10.15 p.m.) Melbourne, December 18. Anti-Labour campaigners express the opinion that Labour will lose at least five of its eleven seats in Victoria. Mr S. M. Bruce is practically certain to regain Flinders by a large majority. It is expected that Labour will lose two seats in South Australia, one in Western Australia and at least six in New South Wales, but there will possibly be no change in Queensland. The Prime Minister, Mr J. H. Scullin, predicts that official Labour will more than hold its own. He has every confidence that the party will win five additional seats.

The Beasley group hopes to retain all the present seats and gain two from the Scullin Party.
