GROUP CLASSES
TEACHING OF MUSIC. CONCERT BY PUPILS. Everybody’s Hall on Wednesday evening was the scene of a unique little entertainment by the pupils of Mr H. L. Lang’s group classes. The hall was well filled and the items were enthusiastically received. The chaiman (Mr A. W. Jones) spoke briefly on the advantages of this form of teaching and remarked on the wonderful progress made by the children under Mrs Lang’s tuition in such a short time. He said the children had been presented with the key to music and it remained for them to make good use of it. The programme was as follows: Pianoforte duet, Mrs Lang and Miss E. West; song, pupils; piano group 1, six pupils; pianoforte solo, Miss E. West; part singing, six pupils (accompanist, Jean Adamson) ; piano group 2, six pupils; demonstration of group teaching, Mrs Lang and pupils; action song, pupils; song and march, pupils; piano group 3, six pupils; piano duet, Mrs Lang and Master Boyens; recitation, Miss J. Donald; piano duet, Miss M. Bailey and Mrs Lang; piano trio, Mrs Lang, Miss Bailey and Miss West. Two items which were much enjoyed were violin solos by Mr R. L. Pettitt and songs by.Mr G. Gunn. Mrs Lang acted as accompanist.
The concert closed with three cheers for their teacher by the children.
