TAILOR DROWNED.

Christchurch, December 17.
Arthur Newman, a tailor, of Fitzgerald street, St. Albans, was drowned in the Avon while whitebait fishing yesterday. He was a widower, aged 65, and had been •subject to fits. At the inquest the Coroner returned an open verdict. BODY FOUND IN HARBOUR. Wellington, December 17. The badly decomposed body of a man was found in the harbour this morning near the rowing sheds. Evidently it had been in the water for a considerable time as there was no clothing, except a pair of boots by which identification can be made.
