OIL FROM COAL
PROCESS OF CARBONIZATION. (British Official Wireless.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, December 16. Sir Eric Hambro, at a luncheon in honour of Comnicndatore Pireo Salerni, who developed the process for the low temperature carbonization of coal, expressed his confidence in the Salerni system. He had decided himself to shoulder responsibility for the provision of the initial funds for the development of the system, which promised not only to restore prosperity to the British mining industry, but to rid the country of smoke and create a home supply of oil and motor fuels.
