“FLYING SANTA CLAUS”
KINGSFORD SMITH DELAYED.
(United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.)
Paris, December 15.
Air-Commodore Kingsford Smith left Lyons at 11.8 this morning and landed at Le Touquet owing to bad weather. He will not be proceeding to Croydon to-day. Though it was pitch dark at 4 o’clock many officials and others awaited Kingsford Smith, who has been nick-named the “Flying Santa Claus,” for hours, but he found overmuch soot in the chimney and had to stop at Le Touquet. Everything is ready for a quick overhaul of his machine for the return flight. ARRIVAL AT CROYDON. (Rec. 12.55 a.m.) London, December 16. Kingsford Smith arrived at Croydon at 11.35.
