LAMBS FOR EXPORT
MANAWATU COMPETITION. “A MARVELLOUS DISPLAY.” (Per United Press Association.) Palmerston North, December 15. At the Longburn Freezing Works this morning 87 entries of three lambs each were judged alive in the Manawatu group competition of the export lamb class for prizes donated by the Meat Producers’ Board. Ilris afternoon the entries are being slaughtered and the carcasses on being shipped to London will be judged there with other exhibits for the North Island Shield. The following awards were made: W. G. Booth (Cheltenham) 1, R. McDonald (Ashhurst) 2, F. C. Burgess (Rongotea) 3.
The judge, Mr J. C. Cornford, stated that it was a marvellous display and that he had never seen a better one in 30 years.
