MAN KILLED
THREE OTHERS INJURED. PUKEURI FREEZING WORKS ACCIDENT. (Per United Press Association.) Oamaru, December 14. When an ammonia liquid receiver burst at the Waitaki Farmers Freezing Company’s Pukeuri works this afternoon, John Norton, aged 70, married, lost his life and three others were injured, one of whom, Ross Clark, lies in the Oamaru hospital in a serious condition. The men were working in the engineer’s fitting room when the accident happened, all making their escape except Norton who subsequently was dragged from the room by a rescuer in a gas helmet. Life, however, was then extinct. An inquest was opened ■ and adjourned after identification.
