AFRICAN CRICKETERS COUNTRY TEAM BEATEN BY 163 RUNS PROMISING YOUNG BATSMAN (United Press Assn.— By Telegraph—Copyright.) (Rec. 8.45 p.m.) Newcastle, December 14. The South African cricketers defeated the combined Country Team by r 163 runs. Cameron declared South Africa’s innings closed on Saturday’s score when play was commenced to-day. The Country Team started their second innings very badly and had lost six wickets for 77 at lunch. Rudd and O’Brien tooK part in a fine seventh wicket stand which yielded 70. Rudd, a schoolboy, again justified his inclusion, malting 73 and achieving the distinction of being the highest country scorer in either innings. The last wicket fell just before the tea adjournment.
