FLOODS IN AUSTRALIA. FAMILIES MAROONED SHORTAGE OF FOOD (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) Sydney, December 12. A vast body of water is surging down the Barwon river threatening the riverside dwellers and endangering the towns. Rain is still falling in the upper reaches and a crisis is expected within three days. The body of Alex Thomson was found in a flooded creek at Warrego. Queensland residents have evacuated the township of Toompine owing to a shortage of food and the rising waters. The plight of two families who are marooned at Orange Creek is considered dangerous. The Dawson river is 40 feet above its summer level and is still rising.
