“HELPING UNEMPLOYED.”
To the Editor. Sir, —Under the above heading in the columns of your paper I see that the Winton Borough Council have decided to help the men on relief works by giving them extra work on the “Silent Week” to enable them to get a few extra shillings for Christmas. The Winton Council are to be congratulated on their action and it is to be hoped that the Invercargill City Council will follow suit and do likewise. —I am, etc., “OPTIMIST.”
