CONCERT AT ISLA BANK
PROGRAMME BY WINTON PARTY. The annual church social of the Limestone Plains Presbyterian Church parish was held in the public hall, Isla Bank on Friday evening last. There was a good attendance present and the concert programme was given by a Winton party ascisted by Mr Pettitt, of Invercargill, and local talent. The Rev. Mitchell was in the chair and during the course of his remarks explained that the function was to assist the church debt. The amount now stood at £36 and as the church cost over, £2OOO to erect he considered the position a very satisfactory one as after that evening the amount would be reduced to £25. The Rev. A. L. Miller, of Oreti, was the speaker of the evening and he took for
his subject, “Home Sweet Home.” Stressing the point that if one had the bringing up in Christ’s Kingdom his home life would never go far astray. The programme rendered was as follows: Piano solo, Miss M. McKenzie; solo, Mrs Malcolm; solo, Mr C. Brown; violin solo, Mr Pettitt; solo; Mrs R. Lindsay; solo, Mr G. Lindsay ; instrumental duet, Mrs Cameron and Miss Teviotdale; solo, Miss R. McKenzie; cprnet solo, Mr J. McKenzie; solo, Mr N. Eastlake; solo,'Miss I. Lindsay; Instrumental duet, Misses Teviotdale; duet, Miss R. McKenzie and Mr N. Eastlake; short stories, Mr G. Lindsay. .Miss M. McKenzie played the accompaniments.
